At present there are nine Vulture Conservation and Breeding Centres (VCBC) in India, of which three are directly administered by Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS).

The Rajabhatkhawa centre earlier provided shelter to two-three rescued vultures and was founded as the second such center in the world following Pinjore, Haryana. It started functioning in 2006 with 2-3 rescued vultures.
