I don't know if it would be too cold for them that time of the year or not. The timber rattlesnake was proposed to be added to the ESA in Nebraska as the snake’s range is diminishing. snakes venomous snakes turtles frogs & toads lizards salamanders.

Timber rattlesnakes are known only from the extreme southeastern. I've heard the Chimney Rock area has lots of snakes as well as the Chadron area and dog towns around Ogallala. Different places on the web say there are but people also claim there are rattlesnakes in Wisconsin and I have never seen any. Glossy Snake Arizona elegans.

Anyone have good information about snakes in these areas? Does anyone know if there are many rattlesnakes there or not. Become a citizen scientist and report your sighting. I am going to the Northwest corner of the state and was wondering how common the rattle snakes are out there during late October?

The poisonous coral snake and the cottonmouth or "water moccasin" do not occur in Nebraska. The pests usually emerge around April, though they might also come out on warmer winter days. I am going hunting to Northwestern Nebraska in late October.
